Holy
Guacamole. Dip. The sands sing as the Cambridgeites catch the
last train from the coast. The Irish (and friends of) begin (or
continue) self-lubricating as Half
Way There approaches. TB12 and The Patriots
return. The kidos are again behind closed doors. The sun is
still warm. September has pounced upon us and the pouncing is good.
But,
all is not 'just so' with our September Song. Some of our Early Bird
Special devotees are squawking. And so, as caring ornithologists and
faithful proprietors, we will smooth the ruffled feathers of one and
all with great September offerings.
New Name Same Super Supper Special
For
our Early Birds, we have created a September Dinner Special
which is the twin of our August Special - only a mother
could tell the difference.
Anytime on any Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,
you
can have your choice of Baked Scrod, Tenderloin Tips
or Chicken Marsala for $13.00. Plus, you can also get your choice
of chowder, soup or a salad for $1.00 and a dessert special for
an additional $1.00.
(Yes,
you can gather a flock of friends to dine together. But no,
you may not offer your soup to one, the dessert to another and
keep the main course for yourself. Bad form, bird's appetite or
not.)
Friday & Saturday Specials Prevail
For
the sake of further cheerful chirping and more great savings,
our All You Can Eat Fish Fry on Fridays and our celebrated Prime Rib
Special on Saturdays will continue in September as well.
Landing Golf Tourney Sign Up - Now
Although
TW has not committed, you can.
The 10th annual Landing Golf Tournament will be on
Tuesday, October 6th. It's a 12:30 p.m.
scramble at The Meadows in Peabody. The $90 entry fee includes golf,
cart, prizes plus dinner at The Landing at Seven Central and will
benefit the Marblehead and Manchester-Essex Rotary Clubs' scholarship
funds.
It's
a good time for a good cause. Call The Landing's Chris Shea
(978-526-7494) for entry and soothing encouragement.
Open For Lunch - Labor Day, the 7th
We
will be open for lunch and holiday good cheer on Monday, the 7th,
starting at 11:30 a.m.
Halfway There - Thursday, the 17th
Back
by request and because one of the anointed has a vested interest
in the venue, The Erstwhiles (His Lordship with Arthur McGowen and
Rob Huffman) will raise their voices and glasses in celebration of
being exactly half way to St. Patrick's Day.
Corned-beef
and Cabbage will be a menu feature for the evening and even
though Gates or Crowley requested the more ordinary, green
beer will flow - at a special price.
If
you missed last year's Erstwhiles performance, a word to the
wise: Good times are not to be dissed or missed. This is a good
time. The dinner is delicious. The beer is beauteous and bountiful.
And the performance (beginning at 8 p.m. in The Pub) is Old
Country spirited and fine.
Cape Ann C of C Thankful Tuesday - the 22nd
As
part of our ongoing Thankful Tuesday program, there will be
a benefit dinner night for the Cape Ann Chamber of
Commerce on Tuesday, the 22nd.
Come
by, have dinner in support of the organization and we
will make a contribution equal to 20 per cent of your total
food and beverage purchase.
And remember, we also award a 5 per cent 'Thanks For Your Help'
reward to any Landing Loyalty Club member who introduces The
Landing's Thankful Tuesdays program to a local charity.
This
is a real way to help a non-profit organization of your choice
and enjoy an evening out. For more information and scheduling,
call Chris Shea at The Landing (978 - 526 - 7494).
Sports Night Grand Finale - Thursday, the
24th
The
Golf, Bike & Sports Night season's finale is nigh. In addition to
the usual fine gifts from Isle of Shoals Tours, Ipswich Ale,
Allen's Pharmacy, The Manchester Athletic Club, Seaside
Cycle and Essex River Cruises, we will also give
away a set of golf clubs, a mountain bike, a kayak plus a whole bunch
more.
As
all Landing Loyalists know, in addition to giving away fine
gifts and comp greens fees from some great golf
courses, including Blackstone National, The Meadow at Peabody
and Cape Ann, every Golf, Bike & Sports Night,
we also pick a Series Finale Grand Prize
Qualifier.
There
are two more Thursday nights left to qualify. So, come by,
have fun, show off your sports memory muscles, maybe win a prize
and maybe qualify for The Grand Finale. (The odds of your
having a good time are super in your favor.)
A Wine Tasting To Savor - the 30th
His
Lordship will host a First-of-the-Season Wine Tasting in The Lee
Room, starting at 6 p.m. More than 30 wines will be offered
with appropriate hors d'oeuvres. $10 covers it all. Suitable
commentary and scintillating conversation are included. Another good
time.
September Rememberables
Our Celtic Music Sessions continue
with Michael O'Leary and Bob & Jean Strom on two
Sundays - the 6th and 20th,
starting at 6 p.m. in the Lee Room.
Janice & Will will
host the Open Mic Night on the 13th
and 27th. 28th. As always, J&W deliver
a good time.
Mug & Cocktail Club members will get $10
off every food purchase on Monday, the
7th and again on Monday, the 21st.
Wine Clubbers get
the same on Mondays, the 14th and 28th.
Also,
don't forget Trivia Night with Brian every Wednesday in
the Pub. The summer series ends on the 23rd.
Catering-by-the-Sea Special Offer
We're
doing everything we can to make Catering-by-the-Sea your primary
resource for any party, gathering, event - big or small, indoors or
out, here, there or any place else.
Simple
said: If it matters to you, it maters to us. Call John Martin (978
821 5108) or Chris Shea at The Landing about our special offer.
Ask what we can do to make your event memorable.
So
what's with this migration thing? Why do some birds take it on the
heel and toe (figuratively) and some don't? And if wealthy birds
end up in South Florida, do the feathery feeble-minded who bet the
nest egg on stock market dead-cat-bounce end up in
South...Dakota?
Think
I'll order up some Miami Vice reruns from Netflix, hit the tanning
bed in March and fabricate the rest. Who's to squawk?
Take care. Be well.
And stop by.

If
you have suggestions or comments about this, that or the other
thing, please let us know. Useful ideas that can help us always
provide you with a memorable dining experience at The Landing are
always worth a Thank You and a $25 dinner gift certificate.
Sincerely,
Chris Shea
