Is
it 'October rules' or 'October rules' - rules being a noun or a verb?
Since such heavy thinking may lead to brain cramps, we'll
just list all 'October rules' and you can sort out
witch is which.
October rules -
Trees and/or leaves may turn colors any time during the month
but only clockwise.
October rules -
Dinner Specials will continue ever
better.
Anytime
on any Tuesday and Thursday,
you have
a choice of Baked Scrod, Tenderloin Tips or Chicken
Marsala for $13.00. With your entree, you can also get chowder

$1.00.
On Wednesdays, entrees
will be half-price in the dining room. On Fridays,

October rules - There
will be no burning witches, boiling unrepentants or
toasting toadies on the common without a fire permit
(which will not be unreasonably withheld).
October rules - Open For Lunch -
Columbus Day. Whether you choose to celebrate
the holiday or a Monday off, we'll be here from 11:30 a.m. for one,
the other or both.
October rules - Despite Salem's

be extended beyond the 31st.
October rules - Thankful Tuesday for the C

As part of our ongoing Thankful Tuesday
program, there will be a benefit night
for the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, the 13th.
Come by, have dinner in support of the
organization and we will make a contribution equal
to 20 per cent of your total food and
beverage purchase.
And remember, we also award a 5 per cent 'Thanks For Your Help'
reward to any Landing Loyalty Club member who introduces The
Landing's Thankful Tuesdays program to a local charity.
This
is a real way to help a non-profit organization of your choice
and enjoy an evening out. For more information and scheduling,
call Chris Shea at The Landing (978 - 526 - 7494).
October rules - Halloween At The Landing
Because (as we've claimed previously) it
is Irish after all, we'll host a Landing Halloween observance in
The Pub on Saturday, the 31st.
Beginning at 9 p.m., a prize will be
awarded every hour for the best costume. (As always, the young and
foolish are reminded that nakedness is NOT a costume.)
Green beer will be available and there is
the possibility His Lordship and The Erstwhiles will make a guest
appearance and lead all halloweenies in a few Irish sing-alongs.
(There's a truly scary thought.)
October rules - No
Grown men in Diapers will be seated for dinner on
Halloween, Irish objections not withstanding. Whether they may
stand at the bar will be decided on a case by case basis.
Sports Night Grand
Finale Results
The Golf, Bike & Sports Night season's finale
was the best ever.
Laura Winn
won the kayak. J.J. Waitt won the Trek
mountain bike from Seaside Cycle. Mike Gothie
won the Golfers Warehouse set of irons. Ed
Conway won the Blackstone National greens fees for
four and Dick Oliver won the Allen's Pharmacy gift
basket. These were a few of the many. A good time was had by all.
And on another front, The
Unhappy Faces, lead by Mike Newman and Lisa
Bartlett, won the season's finale of the
Wednesday Night Trivia event. Their names will be emblazoned
upon the obscenely large Landing Trivia trophy. Such fame and
recognition is enduring - maybe.
Our Celtic Music Sessions continue
with Michael O'Leary and Bob & Jean Strom on two
Sundays - the 4th and 18th,
starting at 6 p.m. in the Lee Room.
will host the Open Mic Night on
the 11th and 25th. As always, J&W are as
reliably enjoyable as P,B&J.
Mug & Cocktail Club members will
get $10 off every food purchase on
Monday, the 5th and again on
Monday, the 19th. Wine
Clubbers get the same on Mondays, the 12th and
26th.
Also, don't forget Trivia Night with Brian
every Wednesday in the Pub and Music
Trivia Night on Fridays.
Catering-by-the-Sea Special Offer
We're doing everything we can to make
Catering-by-the-Sea your primary resource for any party, gathering,
event - big or small, indoors or out, here, there or any place
else.
Simple said: If it matters to you, it maters to
us. Call John Martin (978 821 5108) or Chris Shea at The Landing
about our special offer. Ask what we can do to make your event
memorable.
If there was a wicked witch of the
east and a wicked witch of the west, were there
two witching hours, one three hours ahead of the other?
And, if Locasta is the good witch of the north, who is the
good witch of the south? Sabrina or maybe a part-time, Home-Ec major
from Auburn? Which witch is which and when do they do what they do?
Dazed and confused. Again.
Take care. Be well. And stop by.
