UPCOMING

EVENTS

.....

MOTHER'S DAY Sunday, May 8th

We will open for a brunch/lunch from 11 a.m. Special menu offerings include Lobster Eggs Benedict, Lobster Frittata and a seafood quiche. Dinner will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Best wishes to the honorees will continue throughout the day and probably until the same day, next year. (Mothers never forget.)

Acoustic Tavern

As one of our most fun traditions, every Saturday The Pub becomes The Acoustic Tavern - the North Shore's most fun place to see and hear the best new talent in the area.

Saturday, the 7th - Manny

Saturday, the 14th - Just Like Newman

Saturday, the 21st - Charlie Dawson

Saturday, the 28th - Just Like Newman

(If you think you're one the best new talents, contact Chris Shea or Chris Langathianos at The Landing for a possible gig.)

LANDING IDOL SERIES CONTINUES

The Landing Idol Series continues - Every Friday
Good talent or bad, the hit series continues in The Pub, starting at 9 p.m. Descriptions won't do so see and hear for yourself. It's fun for the watchers and the doers, so both say.

May's Great

 even if...

Yes, we know May is defective. It has no infinitive, no past participle and no future tense. But, if we can accept TB12 wearing a pony tail, Sarah Palin and Manny getting caught 'taking'... again, then we can accept May. A defective verb form does not a bad month make.

So, we will celebrate May - National Asparagus month - with relish. Huh?

May Dinner Specials
On
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, your choice of Baked Scrod, Tenderloin Tips or Chicken Brochette for $13. Plus, chowder, soup or salad for $1 more and a dessert special for an additional $1. (For newbies, that's a full three course sumptuous supper for $15. Same for the rest of us.) $2 Tacos (beef, seafood or chicken) on Tuesdays are still available. And we will continue our All You Can Eat Fish Fry for $14 on Fridays and our Prime Rib Special for $16 on Saturdays.

Three Celtic Sessions - Sundays, the 1st, 15th and 29th

Our Celtic music sessions will shift to summer mode, i.e. we'll start at 6 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. and finish around 9 p.m.

As always, our summer sessions feature the same great talent: Michael O'Leary with Jen and Bob Strom plus guests and friends.

And in the Memorial Day weekend session, on Sunday, the 29th, His Lordship will sing The Ballad of Willie McBride - the moving memorial written by Eric Bogle commemorating the death of a young Irish soldier during World War One.

As said so often, our Celtic Sessions are... an experience - one of the very best ways to end a weekend and/or to begin a new week. Drop by. You'll stay and your true or wanna-be Irish soul will thank you.

Rotary Club Auction - Saturday, the 7th

By request (of someone, perhaps, other than his own self), His Lordship has again donated a personal appearance and concert by the Erstwhiles to this year's Manchester-Essex Rotary Club Auction Evening - Saturday, the 7th, at the American Legion Hall. Festivities will start semi-sharply at 6 p.m.

The evening will have a Mexican theme - a belated celebration of Cinco De Mayo - and will be catered by The Landing. In addition to an assortment of delicious Mexican delectables, there will a wine tasting with more than 30 selections of wines from around the world. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at The Landing. It will be a fun event.

Thankful Tuesday Benefits... All of Us

We will make a contribution equal to 20 per cent of the total food and beverage purchases of the evening to the designated non-profit organization of the evening. We also award a 5 per cent 'Thanks For Your Help' reward to any Landing Loyalty Club member who introduces The Landing's Thankful Tuesdays program to a local charity.

This is a real way to help a non-profit organization of your choice and enjoy an evening out. For more information and scheduling, call Chris Shea at The Landing (978 - 526 - 7494).

Other May Rememberables

The Cribbagers will cribbage on the 1stand 3rd Mondays - the 2nd and 16th, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the pub. Janice & Will host Open Mic Night on Sundays, the 8th and 22nd - young performers from  6 to 7 p.m. Young-at-heart thereafter.

As always, Wednesday is Trivia Night and Thursdays belong to The Landing's own Thursday Night Golf and Bike Night. Either night is a can't lose way for warding off mid-week blahs and blues.

Final Thought (and ponderable)

We don't think the defective verb form was a contributing factor but once again May did not to make the Top 1000 Baby Names of the year. Once a Top Ten-er, albeit back in 1882, May hasn't made The List since 1982, when it ranked 963. Go figure.

Double ponderable

Is there a way not to incur The Wrath - and afterlife pay-back - of a beloved if one were to affirmatively answer the first-beach-day question posed annually since beachwear replaced skins and furs: Does this make me look fat?

Take care. Be well. And stop by.

If you have suggestions or comments about this, that or the other thing, please let us know. Useful ideas that can help us always provide you with a memorable dining experience at The Landing are always worth a Thank You and a $25 dinner gift certificate.
