March Madness

And More
To be sure, the NCAA Division One Men's Basketball Championship tournament will be contested this month, but that is not the March Madness of which we speak. There are so many more eligibles!
  • Our most loyal customer is moving south when the warm weather is moving north.
  • We have FOUR dinner specials this month - something for any food and beverage bargain hunter looking to truly savor the savings.
  • Then there is St. Patrick's Day or The Daze of St. Patrick's, depending upon your heritage and weaknesses.
  • Plus we have the finals of our renowned Trivia series and the finals of The Landing's Ski & Winter Sports Night series, both with a gaggle of goodies for those with winning ways.
  • And our website wizard has found and dispatched all those maddening little bugs so our Food Trivia and Birthday Imposter contests are again up and running, maniacally ready to test your knowledge of minimal-value minutia.

The saints be with us! All in March! 'Tis madness to be sure. So, some details.

Langathionis To Leave One Beach For Another
Chris Langathionis - second only to His Lordship in Landing Loyalty - is moving from Singing Beach to West Palm Beach for professional opportunities.

His faithful support of The Landing and his friendly nature to one and all will be missed in The Pub. He will also be missed on the golf course where his 'game' often made him a welcomed play and pay participant.

There will be a 'adieu Chris' on Saturday, the 14th. It will be a low budget send-off as we fully expect his return. Welcome Home planning details will be announced.

Four Dinner Specials in March
You can get two entrees for the price of one on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the month of March in the dining room.

And for those interested in 'brain' food, we have our Friday Night Fish Fry. All you can eat of Fish and Chips for $13.00.

$18.00 Prime Rib is our feature entree on Saturday Nights in March.

And every day in March, we're offering an Early Evening Special from 4 to 6 p.m. in the dining room: Soup or salad, your choice of three entrees and a dessert special, all for $15.00.

Manchester-Essex PTO To Host
The Manchester-Essex PTO will be the host beneficiary of our Thankful Tuesday program on March 10th.

Come by, have dinner, mention the PTO and we'll contribute 20 per cent of your total dinner purchase to the PTO.

This is a great way to support a local organization and enjoy a good dinner.

We're proud to help, and prouder still of your support.

(We'll also continue to award a 5 per cent 'Thanks For Your Help' reward to any Landing Loyalty Club member who introduces The Landing's Thankful Tuesdays program to a local charity. For more information and scheduling, call Chris Shea at The Landing (978 - 526 - 7494).

Not So Trivial Trivia Finals
The series finals of Wednesday Night Trivia will be on Wednesday, the 11th.

The Unhappy Faces team of Chris Langathionas, Lisa Bartlett, Brian Sollosy and Mike Newman is in first place, but other teams are in brain build-up (see Friday Night Fish Fry above) and will be trolling for a win. Come by, have some fun and bring some brainiacs with you.

The Ski & Winter Sports Night Trivia Series Finale will be on March 26th. As always, the prizes will be far and away greater than anyone deserves. This year's prizes include a pair of K2 skis, a mountain bike courtesy of Seaside Cycle, a gift and apparel package courtesy of Allen's Pharmacy and a Family Ski Lift package courtesy of Boyne Resorts, which includes four all day passes at Sunday River or Sugarloaf.

St. Patrick's Days
As always,  St. Patrick's Day celebrations will start a few days earlier.

Cornbeef and Cabbage will be a menu feature starting on Sunday, March 15th.

Celtic Session, Sundays, 1st and 15th
Also on Sunday,
Michael O'Leary with Jen and Bob Strom will host our Celtic music session series in the Samuel Lee room from 5 to 8 p.m.

(Remember, there is also a Celtic Session on Sunday, the one - same hosts; same good time.)

A-Cribbaging, Sunday, the 15th
The cribbagers w/wo skunks will reconvene in The Pub on Sunday, the 15th, starting at 6 p.m.

This month's contest is expected to be lively in light of February's one-sided match.

In summary: Jessie Leslie whipped, smacked, beat-up, put-away, slam-down and did every other thing to all competitors, unleashing three skunks en route to going undefeated in seven matches.

His Lordship took second place as a substitute when the official entry was unable to play the final round due to libation-mental acuity difficulties.

St. Patrick's Day, Tuesday, the 17th
On the official day, there will be entertainment of the Irish variety in The Pub. As a special evening feature, Arthur McGeown, former lead guitarist of Cara Lough, will accompany His Lordship and The Erstwhiles. There is also the possibility of a Rob Huffman appearance.

As is the nature of St. Patrick's day, the exact time of performance remains a mystery. So, come by early and plan to stay late.

Mug & Cocktail Club members will get $10 off every food purchase on Monday, the 2nd and again on Monday, the 16th. Wine Clubbers get the same on Mondays, the 9th and 23rd.

If you're not a Loyalty Club member, sign up online or when you come in.

Open Mic, Sundays, the 8th & 22nd
Janice and Will will host Open Mic sessions in The Pub,
starting around 6:30 p.m.

March For The Troops, Friday, the 27th
Johnny Harnois will host a March for the Troops on March 27th.

Glitches Gone
Our thanks to Chuck Schrimgeour for de-glitching the glitches and getting our Food Trivia and Birthday Imposter quizlets back on line.

Think you know the answers or can just out-guess the rest of us? Give one or both a try. Someone has to win. Besides, they're fun and there are prizes to be had.

Final Thought
How can there be madness in March if Valentine's Day is in February and taxes aren't due until mid April? Maybe it has to do with those silly-bugger Australians claiming The Wild Colonial Boy is an Aussie song about Jack Doolan and not an Irish ballad about Jackie Duggan.

Daft is all.

Take care. Be well. And stop by.

Chris Shea with Steve Ryan
If you have suggestions or comments about this, that or the other thing, please let us know. Useful ideas that can help us always provide you with a memorable dining experience at The Landing are always worth a Thank You and a $25 dinner gift certificate.
Sincerely,
Chris Shea
M. P and F. P.
