Acoustic Tavern

As one of our most fun traditions, every Saturday The Pub becomes The Acoustic Tavern - the North Shore's

most fun place to see and hear the best new talent in the area.

July 2nd - Bradley Royds

July 9th - Just Like Newman

July 16th - The Erstwhiles

July 23rd - Chris Phillips

July 30th - Just Like Newman

(If you think you're one the best new talents, contact Chris Shea or Chris Langathianos at The Landing for a possible gig.)

LANDING IDOL SERIES CONTINUES

The Landing Idol Series continues - Every Friday
Good talent or bad, the hit series continues in The Pub, starting at 9 p.m. Descriptions won't do so see and hear for yourself. It's fun for the watchers and the doers, so both say.

Quick Links

Here We Go...

Summertime and the livin' is easy. Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high.

George Gershwin, great first word and fine suggestive observation. You got the idea. But then jumpin' fish and cotton getting high? Sounds like you went off your meds mid-thought, bud.

Better cool-me-down calm-down prescription: Skip the little helpers and go to the shore with a trashy read. But bear in mind, some things are not allowed on Singing Beach. Constables can check all carry-ons. And even in a plain brown wrapper, Bristol Palin's Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far will be confiscated... perhaps for shipment to the Cambridge autumn book burning.

But, we digress - a universal summertime acceptable...

July Dinner Special - Lobster Plus

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays: Your choice of claim chowder or a plate of steamers, followed by a boiled lobster, roasted red potatoes and corn on the cob. All for $19.00. And of course, we still have $2 Taco Tuesdays - your choice of fish, beef or chicken. On Fridays, All You Can Eat Fish Fry for $14 and on Saturdays, Prime Rib Special for $16.

Independence Day Weekend

You could treat all four days as independent days or all four days as Independence Days. Whichever, we will celebrate.

Friday, the 1st - The Landing Idol Series continues

The Friday Night hit series continues in The Pub, starting at 9. There will be a medley of patriotic songs sung by costumed crooners or maybe not. Ether which way, it will be, as always, fun for the entertainers and the entertainees - although distinguishing one from the other can sometimes be confusing.

Saturday, the 2nd - The Acoustical Tavern Awaits

Bradley Royds will entertain at about 9 p.m. As always, The Pub becomes The Acoustical Tavern, featuring some of the area's finest talent every Saturday.

And we'll continue booking the best for the rest of July.

Saturday, July 9th - Just Like Newman

Saturday, July 16th - The Erstwhiles (maybe, depending upon visas and customs)

Saturday, July 23rd - Chris Phillips

Saturday, July 30th - Just Like Newman

Sunday, the 3rd - An Entertainment Twofer

Where Mike and Phil led the Open Mic session on Saturday, the 2nd, Phil and Mike will do the same in The Pub on Sunday. (Depending upon your celebration level, you may or may not notice the distinction between the two.)

And around the corner and up the stairs, Michael O'Leary with Jen and Bob Strom will host another Celtic Music Session in The Lee Room, staring at 6 p.m.

The Celtic Music Sessions will also be in the Lee Room on Sundays, the 17th and 31st. As always, these evenings are great entertainment - wonderful music, good stories, and fine people up-front and side-by-side. Come by.

Monday, the 4th - Red White & Blue Brunch

Our town's annual holiday parade starts at noon. So we will open for brunch at 11:30 with a mini three course Independence Day Special: Blueberry pancakes with bacon and home fries, a red-cupped delicious Landing Bloody Mary and never-to-be missed or a dish of  Captain Dusty's white (vanilla bean actually) ice cream. Red, White and Blue never tasted so good.

The Landing Float(s)

Floating along so to speak, The Landing will host (?), have (?), donate (?), enjoy (certainly) a float in the town's annual 4th parade. Our thanks to contributions by John Filias of Jeffery's Creek Landscaping, the talented Peter Hoare, and our own Chris Langathianos. Thanks to their help... merrily we will float along, float along, float along.

Club Membership Half-Price

Because we are half-way from there to there, you can join our Wine, Mug and Cocktail Clubs for half-price ($30) which enables you to enjoy more of your favorite libation with each serving and entitles you to a $10 dinner discount twice a month. The dinner club is also available... and an even better value ($120 in coupons for $50).

Join us. Fun with other clubbies is an added bonus.

Saturday, the 23rd - Another Fun Twofer

We will be cooking and serving delicious what-evers on The Green from noon until later as part of the town-wide Manchester Arts Festival. Support The Arts and our town. Come by.

Same night, we're co-hosting a Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament in the Lee Room, staring at 6 p.m. Entries are limited to 50 players - $90 in advance; $100 at the door. This is for the benefit of the Manchester-Essex Rotary Club. Call/see Chris for details.

Other July Rememberables

Janice & Will will host Open Mic Night on Sundays, the 10th and 24th - young performers from  6 to 7 p.m. Young-at-heart thereafter.

As always, Wednesday is Trivia Night and Thursday is Golf and Bike Night. Either night is a can't lose for warding off mid-week blahs and blues.

And, like all good citizens of all countries everywhere, we will certainly celebrate the election of Dave Singleton as President of the Manchester-Essex Rotary Club.

Final Thought (and ponderable)

A pasty-white, elderly Cambridge couple stopped and confused us in front of the Post Office yesterday. 'Can we buy sun block on this block, son?'

The difficulty is that we're still confused in trying to sort out last summer season's conundrum: Which is of less value to know - that July always starts on the same day of the week every year as April or that the last day of the month is Harry Potter's birthday? Maybe neither. After all, the bikini was introduced in Paris on July 5th (1946) and the parking meter made its debut in Oklahoma City on July 16th (1935).

Things to consider and debate during the month over delectables and your choice of denatureds.

Take care, be well and stop by.
