Acoustic Tavern Every Saturday Night
Just because we can - and want to - we've booked some great talent
for your (and our) enjoyment:
Saturday, July 3rd - Manny Saturday,
July 10th - Chris Chauvin Saturday, July 17th - Ben Despres Saturday,
July 24th - Chris Phillips Saturday, July 31st - Peter Hoare with
special guest Chris Langathianos. Reminds us of Joan Baez, Van
Morrison and Bob Dylan at Jordan Hall and other in-town haunts during
the late sixties. Was it a better time then or now? (We'll take both.)
(If you think you're one the best new talents, contact Chris Shea or Chris Langathianos at The Landing for a possible gig.)

July Resolves
July One: exactly 182 days down; 182 still to go. But, that's waay too much time to consider. Our duty-obligation-chore-related A-D-D suggests we focus on just the next thirty-one days. So... After our recent survey of the front lawn, shall we intone our best Arnold 'I'll be back' and dedicate the next month to the eradication of vast populations of dandelions and grubs? Shall we click the remote to channel 2193, dutifully join the world's 700 million, Vivuzela horn-blowing, World Cup nut-job spectators and vigilantly watch grown men flop around in agony from imaginary injuries, all in the hope that once every few hours someone will score a Goooooooooooooooooooal. (Even Jersey Shore's Snooki and JWoww offer more high drama reality... maybe.) Or, shall we simply smack ourselves upside the head and realize: OMG, it's summer. Let the early bird have the worm. Let the grubs and dandies take the lawn. We'll take the beach and decadently enjoy an absolutely pointless indulgent fun 'read' not recommended by our book club or an ever-helpful Oprah. We'll also take The Landing in July where a good time is purely guaranteed with some high-value specials plus some new reasons to convert drive-bys to stop-bys.

July Dinner Specials
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, we will offer Baked Scrod, Tenderloin Tips or Chicken Marsala for $13. Plus, chowder, soup or salad for $1 more and a dessert special for an additional $1. On Fridays, we'll offer our All You Can Eat Fish Fry for $14 and on Saturdays, you can enjoy our Prime Rib Special for $16. |
Independence Day Weekend
You could treat all three days as independent days or all three days as Independence Days. Whichever, we will celebrate. Friday, July 2nd - The Landing Idol Series continues Zach Boyd won the second series and brother Nate won the first series but the judges claim a certain amount of fuzzy thinking as to how such a coincidence could happen. Boyd-oh-Boyd we say. The Friday Night hit series continues in The Pub, starting at 9... with or without all the Boyds. Saturday, July 3rd - The Acoustic Tavern Awaits Every Saturday in July, about 9 p.m., the chairs and tables will be reset and The Pub will become The Acoustical Tavern, featuring some of the area's finest talent.
Celebrating Independence Day in The Pub for his second musical stint in the last 2 months will be Manny. His guitar and vocal skills will be a great backdrop for ringing in the 4th. Sunday, July 4th - Red White & Blue Brunch Our town's annual holiday parade starts at noon. So we will open for brunch at 11:30 with a mini three course Independence Day Special: Blueberry pancakes with bacon and home fries, a red-cupped delicious Landing Bloody Mary and never-to-be missed or dissed Captain Dusty's white (vanilla bean actually) ice cream. Red, White and Blue never tasted so good. Stay or return for our Sunday Night Celtic Music Session at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, July 20th - Girls' Night Out (something new)

The first featured cocktail will the our own Keylime Pie Martini (among others) and Nicole will MC a trivia and prizes raffle starting at 8:30 p.m. A certain level of womanly decorum will most probably be replaced with girlish giggles and foolishness. Saints preserve us all.

Final Thought (and ponderable)
Which is of less value to know - that July always starts on the same day of the week every year as April or that the last day of the month is Harry Potter's birthday? Maybe neither. After all, the bikini was introduced in Paris on July 5th (1946) and the parking meter made its debut in Oklahoma City on July 16th (1935). Things to consider and debate during the month over delectables and your choice of denatureds. Take care, be well and stop by. Chris Shea with Steve Ryan If you
have suggestions or comments about this, that or the other thing, please
let us know. Useful ideas that can help us always provide you with a
memorable dining experience at The Landing are always worth a Thank You
and a $25 dinner gift certificate.
Sincerely,
Chris Shea M. P and F. P |
