The Landing at 7
Central Newsletter
Volume 6, Number 11, Issue
68 -
February, 2010 | |
What with
only 28 days in February, there's just so little
time to enjoy so much.
But
providers and funsters that we both be, we'll
present the agenda, you present yourself with
others and we'll all partake in a February that
will be fond fodder for 'back in the day'
reminisces years from now.
Feb
Dinner Specials - Better than the Bean Pot
The Bean Pot offers outstanding
college hockey on the first and
second Mondays of February but we're
offering Loyalty Club members even
more.
Tuesdays,
Wednesdays & Thursdays, every week
in February: Baked Scrod, Tenderloin Tips or
Chicken Marsala for $13.
Plus, chowder, soup or salad for $1 more and a
dessert special for an additional $1.
All
You Can Eat Fish Fry for $14 on
Fridays and
Prime
Rib Special for $16 and a second entree at
half-price on Saturdays.
And at the stroke of 10
(or thereabouts), His Lordship will
raffle off dinner for two for free
plus an assortment of other treasures
(including a stylish Landing golf shirt and
sweatshirt). To
qualify, just keep and present your Saturday night
dinner ticket.
Plus, unlike
Bean Pot Bank North, we will never ask you to
share your table with a gaggle
of 13,000 goofies from BU and
BC.
Super
Bowl Square Deal Super Party - Sunday, the
7th
Super deal
for the day: $20 gets you a 'steak' in the
game and a prime rib half-time
buffet. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Pregame
entourage positioning and warm-up
celebrating is recommended. Call to reserve
your square/seat. (978 526 7494)
Meanwhile,
Michael O'Leary with Jen and Bob
Strom may not lead rousing
renditions of the Indianapolis and New
Orleans football fight songs, but they
will provide - as always - memorable music
as our Celtic music session series continues
in the Samuel Lee room from 5 to 8 p.m. on Super
Bowl Sunday. (You don't have to 'go long' to
attend both
events.)
Valentine's Day -
Sunday, the 14th Because we care, we advise you to
make reservations early. A year of
recriminations is a heavy burden.
And
since Janice & Will will be
hosting Open Mic Night in the Pub on
V-Day, there will be applause aplenty for songs of
love, shout-outs of devotion and 'closed for
business' encouragements to Tiger
Woods.
Fido Award Award
- Wednesday, the
17th Wow-wow.
It's that time again - The Westminster Kennel
Club Dog Show - 2,500 mutts at Madison
Square Garden on the 15th and 16th - so
many arfers and yappers; so much
doggie d_ - _o. Just how many best
friends do nehyaukers really need?
As
is tradition, the 'best judge' Fido
Awards will be conferred
during a next day (Wednesday)
luncheon at Sardi's. And as always, His Lordship
will award a DOGS OF SINGING
BEACH calendar to any North Shore Fido Award
winner. A hearty woof-woof from all Pub
patrons is also likely.
The Erstwhiles
- Friday, the 19th
Direct
from their four month tour of other places and
alternate realities, His Lordship and The
Erstwhiles will appear (via the side door) in The
Pub at (maybe sometime around) 8:30
p.m.
Appearing
with the irregular regulars of The
Erstwhiles - Athur McGeown, Rob Huffman, His
Lordship and sometimes Jen Strom with Bob
of-the-same-sir-name - will be Eleanor
Halgren, daughter of Don and Nancy, who bid at
auction and won their own personal Erstwhiles
concert and a chance for their daughter to perform
with the renowned.
(For
all but Eleanor and The Erstwhiles, such
demonstrated devotion is rare indeed.
Of note: Eleanor is also making her Erstwhiles
guest appearance because she has a very
nice voice, well worth the listen - so say so
many.)
As
always, a night with The Erstwhiles is the stuff
of legends and envied stories. Join
us... even if you are unsure of all
the verses of The Wild Colonial Boy.
Staff
Christmas Party - Tuesday, the
23rd
We
will close early for the February staff Christmas
party. The last seating for dinner will be at 7
p.m. Arrive later and all roles reverse, which
might be very confusing for all of
us.
Haiti
- Each Day Every Day
Our
thoughts and prayers will continue go out to the
people of Haiti.
Our
thanks to h.lang Company
(Chris Langathianos and Syndi Hirsch)
for their efforts and co-sponsorship
of the Love Haiti benefit event last
month.
Combined
with The Landing's contribution, Love Haita raised
more than $2,000 for Haiti relief.
Our
thanks to all those who gave their time, talent
and money to make it possible.
Clubbers Club - Mondays
w/wo Punxsutawney Phil
Whether
the rodent sees his shadow or not, Mug &
Cocktail Club members will get $10 off
every food purchase on Mondays, the
1st and 15th. Wine Clubbers will get the
same on Mondays, the 8th and 22nd.
Other
Feb Rememberables
Janice
and Will will host Open Mic sessions in The
Pub, on Sundays, the 14th and 28th. (A
gentle reminder: All young performers are welcome
to 'stand and deliver' from 6 to 7. We'll
indulge older
warblers thereafter.) Our
Celtic
Music Sessions with Michael O'Leary with
Bob and Jen Strom in The Lee Room from 5 to
8 on Sundays, the 7th and
21st.
As
always, Wednesday is Trivia Night. Thursday is Ski
& Winter Sports Night and Friday is Music
Trivia Night. Friends, neighbors and the
curious (bi- and otherwise) are all welcome.
Final Thought
If
a good time is such a good time that you can't
exactly remember the who's
and what's, then did the good time
actually happen?
We
surmise that it must be like that thinking
thingy about a tree falling in the woods and the
only one who doesn't hear it is the guy
underneath.
Oh
well. It wasn't us... there or last night.
Take
care, be well and stop by.
