The Landing Idol Series continues - Every Friday
Good talent or bad, the hit series continues in The Pub, starting at 9 p.m. Descriptions won't do so see and hear for yourself. It's fun for the watchers and the doers, so both say.

According to our Funk & Wagnalls, the synonyms for August are imposing, impressive, grand, dignified, noble and eminent.  In shorts, big flower Hawaiian shirts and flip-flops?   

Perhaps the month-naming people need to do a rethink. Until then, we'll continue our summer daze... damn skippy.

And the best place to begin and end the eighth month is The Landing at Seven Central where the true meaning of August is always fun and fine fare for one and all.

So say we... and so says everyone else - to wit, the readers of the venerable North Shore magazine have again voted The Landing at Seven Central TWO 2011 Readers Choice Awards: Best Pub Food on the North Shore and Best Trivia Night on the North Shore.

August Dinner Specials    

Lobster Specialfor $19 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. $2 Taco Tuesdays on... Tuesdays. On Fridays, we have our All You Can Eat Fish Fry for $14 and on Saturdays, you can enjoy our Prime Rib Special for $16.

And keep in mind, the deck is open and most enjoyable. (As always, reservations and/or fly-by's by mosquitoes, gnats, no-see-ums and others of the kind will not be honored until the second week in January.)  

Wednesdays - North Shore's Best Trivia Continues

As voted, The North Shore's best Trivia Night convenes in The Pub every Wednesday with Brian, starting around 8:30 p.m. If you've got answers, we've got questions... and great prizes.    

Thursdays - Summer Sports Night Gets Even Better

His Lordship democratically stumps one and all with sports trivia questions, starting at 9 p.m. in The Pub. There's also a no-correct-answer-required raffle for those who have exceeded their public smartness for the week.

Erstwhiles To Roll in Marblehead - Wednesday, the 17th

As a true sign of democracy - or a willingness to take a gig almost anywhere, The Erstwhiles will make a rare appearance at The Landing in Marblehead on Wednesday, the 17^th to celebrate the 5/12^th milestone of their journey to St. Patrick's Day. Seven Central devotees are welcome. Visas to Marblehead are recommended but not mandatory.   

Other August Rememberables

Celtic Summer Sessions will be on Sundays, the 7th and 21st in the Samuel Lee Room, starting at 6 p.m. 

Janice & Will will host Open Mic Night on Sundays, the 14th and 28th - young performers are welcome from  6 to 7 p.m. Young-at-hearts thereafter.  

The Mug and Cocktail Club sup on Mondays, the 1st and 15th. The Wine Clubbies do the same on Mondays, the 8th and the 22nd. And all the clubs, including the Loyalty Club, celebrate and save on the 29^th - the 5th Monday of the month.  

Final Thought (and ponderable)

This name thing is perplexing. Can one knowingly name a next-of. August, knowing the true meaning of the word but also knowing the other true meaning of the word? And one can't even add a nick-name modifier or term of endearment like sweetie, honey or dear since everyone on Singing Beach under sixty answers to one or all.
