Hot August

Nights & Specials
Just as spring follows winter and K-Fed follows Brittany, hot July days are followed by August nights with cool dinner specials, so say we according to our loose interpretation of the laws of nature, celebrities and The Landing at Seven Central.

Early Bird Special Worth Crowing About
Because we can, we are extending our Early Bird Special to all hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in August.

And more special, you have your choice of our most favorite entrees - Baked Scrod, Marinated Steak Tips or Chicken Picatta - for $13.00 Plus, you also get your choice of soup or salad for $1.00 and a dessert special for $1.00.

In the words of one crude critic: The Early Bird Special shows The Landing is willing to stuff any bird anytime for chicken feed. That's a recession buster, Buster.

Chirp, chirp, we say.

Friday & Saturday Specials Prevail
The EBS may provide superior sustenance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, but don't forget our All You Can Eat Fish Fry on Fridays and our celebrated Prime Rib Special on Saturdays.

Simple question for suitable debate - perhaps while enjoying an early Sunday evening supper in The Pub: Why stay home.

At the same time, pencil in a drop-by for one or all of our other Sunday night diversions.

Celtic Sessions - Sundays, 2nd, 16th & 30th
Michael O'Leary with Jen and Bob Strom continue to entertain gloriously in our popular Celtic music session series in the Samuel Lee room from 6 to 9 p.m.

It's a nondebatable issue: The Celtic sessions are fun.

Open Mic - Sundays, the 9th and 23rd
Janice & Will will host both Open Mic sessions in The Pub, starting around 6:30 p.m.  Bring a voice of your choice.

And although American Idol talent scouts didn't attend last time, the corner table has been reserved.

Open Cribbage - Sunday, the 16th
The cribbagers will assemble in The Pub on Sunday, the 19th, starting at 6 p.m. Skunks may be unleashed only as appropriate.

Prodigal Patron Return Party - Friday, the 7th
Chris Langathianos, formerly of the third stool from the left in the Pub and now of Florida, will host his own reacquaint celebration - The Black & White Extravaganza - in The Pub, starting at 8 p.m. or earlier or later. All are welcome to stop by and partake of a good time.

Rotary Club Mixer - Thursday, the 20th
The Manchester  - Essex Rotary Club will host a prospective member mixer in The Pub, from 5 to 7 p.m.  Come by. Enjoy some free hors d'oeuvres and learn about all the good things the rotary club does for our community.

Catering-by-the-Sea Special Offer
We're doing everything we can to make Catering-by-the-Sea your primary resource for any party, gathering, event - big or small, indoors or out, here, there or any place else.

Simple said: If it matters to you, it maters to us. Call John Martin (978 821 5108) or Chris Shea at The Landing about our special offer. Ask what we can do to make your event memorable.

July Contest Winners
Sarah and Joseph Lauranzano won our July Food Trivia contest when they correctly answered that pepper and mustard are the two top selling spices in the world.

Martha Isaac won our patriotic birthday quizlet, when she noted that Edward Rutledge was the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Think you know the answers or can just out-guess the rest of us?

Try our Food Trivia quiz or our Birthday Imposter quizlet. They're fun and there are gift certificates and other prizes to be won.

Other August Rememberables
Mug & Cocktail Club members will get $10 off every food purchase on Monday, the 3rd and again on Monday, the 17th.

Wine Clubbers get the same on Mondays, the 10th and 24th.

And all Loyalty Club members enjoy all club discounts on the 5th monday of any month, like on the 31st.

If you're not a member of one or both,
sign up online or when you come in.

Also, don't forget Trivia Night with Brian every Wednesday in the Pub; our Golf, Bike & Summer Sports Night every Thursday in the Pub and our Friday Music Trivia Night in the Pub.

Final Thought
We're confused. In these days of heated issues and cold hearted remarks, can a person, place or event be 'hot' and also be 'cool' or does one preclude, exclude the other?

So, depending upon your politics and priorities, was the President's beer talk with Bay State hommies Gates and Crowley 'hot', 'cool', neither  or both?

And more to the point, wouldn't a sit down at The Landing have been more convenient and cooler? (We have waay better A/C than the south lawn.)

Take care. Be well. And stop by.

Chris Shea with Steve Ryan
If you have suggestions or comments about this, that or the other thing, please let us know. Useful ideas that can help us always provide you with a memorable dining experience at The Landing are always worth a Thank You and a $25 dinner gift certificate.
Sincerely,
Chris Shea
