APRIL UPCOMING EVENTS
THE LANDING'S 6th BIRTHDAY PARTY Thursday, April 1st
Our Birthday-Thursday, the 1st (No Fooling)
We will officially celebrate The
Landing's 6th Birthday from 6 to 8 p.m. in The Pub with cake and best
wishes for one and all. Entertainment will be provided by Peter Hoare
and all others who join us in a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday.
(And in the spirit of the day, we will
also award $100 to every person who can recall His Lordship's
unofficial title when asked by His Lordship.)

Acoustic Tavern April 11th & 25th
The Acoustical Tavern Returns - Saturday, the 11th and 25th
On alternate Saturdays, The Pub becomes The Acoustical Tavern -
the North Shore's first choice place to see and hear the best new
talent in the area. (If you think you're the best new talent, contact
Chris Shea or Chris Langathianos at The Landing.)

BIG Easter Sunday - Sunday, April 4th
We're open early -
for brunch from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. with the full dinner menu
available from 1 p.m. There will be a Celtic Music session
with Michael O'Leary plus Bob and Jen Strom in The Lee Room from 5 to
8. And at 8 p.m. The Faithful will gather in The Pub for the Red Sox
season opener against the (evil) Yankees. There will be free hot dogs
for us and for them, March rain water - the weed-producing kind.

The Landing Idol Series Finale - Friday, the 2nd
Who would have guessed: Add some neighbors and friends and a pretty good idea can become a really good time.
It's not Karioke and
it's not lip-synching - just something somewhere somehow in between -
but it's fun. For eight weeks the qualifiers qualify. Then, they
compete for $100, applause, accolades and to have their name - or an
alias - engraved on the obscenely large, multi-use Landing Trophy.
(Reminds us of the glory days of Milly Vanilli. )

April showers...
finally.
April
showers bring May flowers and better mating possibilities for those
bears and tennis players who haven't had a clean-up since prehibernation.
Like most months, April will
begin bright with possibilities on Day One, even though the day and
month continue to be scoffed by those who favor the resolution-laden
first of January as the primo first of the month.
Yet, without April Fools Day, we would not have had the BBC's
reporting of the bumper spaghetti crop in Switzerland in 1957, Taco
Bell buying the Liberty Bell in 1996, BK introducing the left-handed
Whopper in 1998 nor George Plimpton's reporting in Sports Illustrated
that the '85 Mets had signed Sidd Finch - the 168 mph fast-baller who
learned how to pitch as a youngster in a Tibetan monastery.
And of course, we wouldn't have had NPR's reporting in 1992 that
the Republicans wanted to rerun Richard Nixon (with the campaign
slogan: I didn't do anything wrong and I won't do it again).
But, why dwell over the preposterous past if we can dwell at The
Landing at Seven Central and multi-time celebrate a fittingly fun
month with some suitably fine food and spirits. So, dwell and
redwell we will... |

Congrats
To our good-sport sponsors for making it
happen and to our neighbors and friends for taking advantage of a good
thing, i.e. The Grand Finale of The Landing's Ski and Winter Sports
Night series.
The evening featured fun, foolishness (in
March?) and 18 prize winners who gleefully informed the attendant
hopeful that regifting just wasn't going to happen.
Dick Oliver won a
classic beach cruiser bicycle, courtesy of Seaside Cycle. (And yes,
Dick completed the obligatory Pub victory lap without incident.)
Caroline Cruz won the
Parrot Head weekend at Sunday River, courtesy of Boyne Mountain
Resorts. (Shot-gun, tag-along applicants were plentiful... as
always .)
Andrew Clark won a fine pair of Volkl skis and Wild John Waitt
won a semi-double-daffy-inverted-helicopter-three-twist-fandango
suitable snowboard, both courtesy of East Coast Alpine. (Summer- time,
Wild John sciatic rework was not included.) e dining room.

Final thought (ponderable)
If
your birthday falls on the fateful date, dare you accept and open
gifts or is it better to lie about your true birth date as you would if
you had been born on December 25th... or July 12th?
Take care, be well and stop by.
