April

All Fun No Fooling
Aside from becoming the butt of embarassing possibilities of Fool's Day or becoming audit-eligible by miscalculating the contribution to those whacky, fun loving pranksters down in D.C., April is a great fun month.

Let Us All Eat Cake - Wednesday, the 1st
Our celebration month begins on the first day - as every month does, I suppose.

On Wednesday, we will celebrate The Landing at Seven Central's fifth birthday. It all began on April 1, 2004, The rest has been history.

And in historical fashion, loosely paraphrasing Queen Marie Therese's declaration on the eve of the French Revolution, His Lordship has proclaimed that we all shall eat cake - birthday cake with sparklers, throughout the day.

So, come by, wish us well for the next 50 years, have your cake and eat it too.

Celebrate Your Birthday
And if you have an April birthday, enjoy an after dinner birthday dessert of your choice as our treat.

Dinner Specials To Continue in April
Continuing with our birthday gift-giving, we will extend the March Dinner specials through April.
  • Wednesdays: Two entrees for the price of one throughout the month in the dining room.
  • Fridays: All you can eat Fish & Chips for $13.00
  • Saturdays: Prime Rib for $18.00
  • Early Evening Special every day from 4 to 6 p.m. in the dining room: Soup or salad, your choice of three entrees and a dessert special, all for $15.00.

Simply said, Happy Birthday to all.

Trivia Returns With a New Host - Wednesday, 1st
Our Wednesday Night Trivia begins a new series with a new host.

Brian will replace Johnny who is off to the wilds of Florida on a vacation and/or sabbatical. He will be away a little while or a long while depending upon treatment by the natives.

Brian has indicated his trivia questions may or may not be as difficult or easy as those previously put forth. Huh? Uh-oh.

Thankful Tuesdays To Benefit Three
As part of our Thankful Tuesday program, we'll host three events in April.
  • Thursday, the 2nd.There will be a benefit night for the Manchester/Essex Parent Teachers Organization. Janice & Will will host an Open Mic session in the Pub, starting at 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, the 7th. There will be dinner in the Dining Room for the benefit of the Manchester Essex DECA Student Marketing program. Proceeds will be used to fund 15 ME students who will compete in the national DECA competition in California later this spring.
  • Tuesday, the 14th. There will be a special evening for the benefit Cape Ann Cable Television. Scheduled in the Samuel Lee room from 5:30 through 8 p.m., the evening, entitled A Celebration of the History of Manchester's Waterfront - The Cultural Heart, will feature a dinner, presentations by Manchester Historical Society Curator John Huss and author Gordon Abbott, plus entertainment by Gid Loring and his band Gid's Giddy Gang. The charge for the dinner will be $15.00.
Come by, mention the organization or charity you are supporting and we will make a contribution equal to 20 per cent of your total food and beverage purchase.

This is a great way to support a local organization while enjoying an evening out.

(For more information and/or to schedule a Thankful Tuesday event for your organization, call Chris Shea at The Landing (978 - 526 - 7494).

Celtic Session, Sundays, the 5th and 19th

High Fashion Early Easter Sunday Lunch, the 12th
In consideration of egg hunts and other rituals, we will open for a special Easter Sunday Brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We will also award a $25 gift certificate to the Loyalty Club member donning the most 'unique' Easter bonnet of the day. Chapeau Commisioner Shea will render judgement. Disputation is optional.

Open Cribbage, Sunday, the 19th
The cribbagers will assemble in The Pub on Sunday, the 19th, starting at 6 p.m.

March First Place Finisher Bill Bornstein and 2nd Placer Alyssa Walker will most likely defend. Skunks in The Pub remain a possibility.

The Ski & Winter Sports Night Series Ends Big
It was a very good time for one and all.

Other March Winners
Shiela McCarthy won our March Food Trivia contest when she correctly answered that Joe Sheridan, a bartender at Shannon Airport, created the Irish Coffee cocktail in the 1950's.

Carol Herrick won our Birthday Imposter quizlet,  when she singled out Michael Flatley as the imposter - not born on St. Patrick's Day (March 17) but on July 16, 1958. Go on with you now, Michael, back off the line.

Think you know the answers or can just out-guess the rest of us?

Try our Food Trivia quiz or our Birthday Imposter quizlet. They're fun and there are gift certificates and other prizes to be won.

Other April Rememberables
Mug & Cocktail Club members will get $10 off every food purchase on Monday, the 6th and again on Monday, the 20th.

Wine Clubbers get the same on Mondays, the 13th and 27th.

If you're not a Loyalty Club member, sign up online or when you come in.

Open Mic, Sunday, the 26th. Janice & Will will host an Open Mic session in The Pub, starting around 6:30 p.m.

Final Thought
The Landing's birthday is April One, as is the birthday of George and Fred Weasley of the Harry Potter series and Alfred E. Neuman of Mad Magazine.

Imagine doing the horoscope chart for that group.

Take care. Be well. And stop by.

Chris Shea with Steve Ryan
If you have suggestions or comments about this, that or the other thing, please let us know. Useful ideas that can help us always provide you with a memorable dining experience at The Landing are always worth a Thank You and a $25 dinner gift certificate.
Sincerely,
Chris Shea
